Parenting consultation is an alternative dispute resolution process under Rule 114 as defined by the Minnesota Supreme Court. By mutual agreement between divorcing parents and the court, the parenting consultant (PC) is given a hybrid role of mediator/arbitrator. This individual interacts with parents to settle child-related issues without litigation. The actual process of resolving and implementing strategies consistent with court orders is at the discretion of the PC. It should, however, be spelled out in the full terms of your written agreement to participate.

All court-appointed PCs in Minnesota fulfill training requirements and adhere to a code of ethics outlined in Rule 114. Most, including myself, follow practice guidelines established by the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts.

In order to commence, a court order appointing the PC, PTE, GAL, or Custody Evaluator by name is necessary, along with a signed agreement and deposit of retainer. To discuss fees please contact me using the link at the top of the page. I offer a sliding scale based on financial need.
